Comings and Goings

This month we say a fond farewell and grateful thanks to Elina, who has been with us since April doing a sterling job supporting our Operations team with a number of key events for clients such as HP, Aviagen and Chivas.
Elina will be staying on in Edinburgh until around Christmas time, during which time she will be focusing on completing her dissertation on the subject of Social Media Marketing, as well as keeping a hand in with some Maximillion and MadMax Adventures event work.
This month we also welcome Alison, who is here to assist our Activity Centres Manager Glen with the MadMax Adventures and Turnberry Adventures bookings. We wish her all the best as she settles into her internship with the Maximillion family.

Tell us a little about your background?
I was born and brought up in Dunfermline then moved to Aberdeen to study engineering. Once I finished my degree my gut feeling was telling me to do something else. I took a leap of faith and decided to have a go at events management. I have worked in events hospitality for nearly 10 years and I was curious as to how an event all came together. Now I am studying again at Edinburgh College and I haven’t looked back since.
What made you want to undertake an internship with Maximillion?
I first came across Maximillion at a conference at Queen Margaret University in March and again at the recruitment evening in April. It was great to find out about the company and then to have a taster of what Maximillion has to offer. It was then I knew I wanted to be a part of the team that finds innovative ways to make team building memorable.
What are you looking to gain out of your time at Maximillion?
Gain an insight into the world of event management. Learning the process of producing a proposal, planning the operations needed and seeing everything come together at the event.
What are your career aspirations?
I am still discovering more about events and have yet to decide which area I would like to pursue more. However I am looking forward to finding out more, and excited for wherever the future may take me.

… go back in time to meet your ancestors or jump forward in time to meet your great grandchildren…why?
Go back in time to meet the ancestors. I know very little about my family history and I am curious to find out more if I could. Especially on my father’s side, I know there is potential for an intriguing story there.
… take a cultural city break, or a relaxing beach break…why?
Take a cultural city break. I love finding hidden gems within cities and learning the history.
Every city has a story that they love to tell.
… be able to talk with animals or be able to speak all foreign languages?
I would love to speak all foreign languages. It would make travelling a lot easier. My recent attempt in Barcelona didn’t go down to well. Every time I tried to speak Spanish they laughed. I think it might have been the Scottish accent that didnae help!
