Amaris Hospitality – Jurys Inn

We were invited to facilitate an interactive session with Amaris Hospitality for their Jurys Inn franchised division on the occasion of the February 2017 senior management leadership conference. We designed and delivered The Pitch – a bespoke GPS Adventures challenge to test entrepreneurial skills, business acumen, creativity, communication and presentation skills, as well as promoting time-management, leadership and teamwork.

Event Details:

Event: GPS Adventures bespoke team challenge

Date: February 2017

Where: DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Glasgow Central

Theme: The Pitch

Objectives

The aim of the session was to put the senior management teams through their paces, applying the learning from the first day of their conference to generate ideas and optimise opportunities in their brand development ambitions.

What We Did

Using our Wildgoose Scotland app we developed “The Pitch” to test entrepreneurial skills, business acumen, creativity, communication and presentation skills, as well as promoting time-management, leadership and teamwork.

The group split into five teams of ten, each equipped with a team iPad mini, going head to head on the challenge. The teams were presented with a series of tasks requiring them to:

  • Identify each other’s strengths and delegate roles.
  • Explore and complete indoor and outdoor tasks with use of GPS and image recognition technology, answering questions, photo challenges and short video tasks.
  • Fulfill a range of business objectives in a logical order – everything from designing logos, filming adverts and creating marketing materials, to creating a brand campaign.
  • Aim to score extra points by taking on bonus business challenges and by investing points in other teams’ companies.

The top three highest-scoring teams were then invited to pitch their campaign to their peers, and a panel from the executive who grilled them extensively. At the end of the event the groups voted for their winner, using the technology within the app in an exciting and tense finale.

Who Took Part

50 Jurys Inn senior managers from across the UK and Ireland, and Amaris Hospitality senior management.

What They Said

“Maximillion delivered an engaging and challenging event for our hotel general managers and senior leadership team as a second day of our annual conference. The day was based on one of their Wildgoose Scotland activities, which was tailored to continue the learning from day one of the conference. The tailoring helped create a seamless two-day event. The event used a mix of iPad tasks and experiential learning. All aspects of the day were supported and coordinated by the Maximillion team, so our facilitators could observe activities in peace of mind. We’d highly recommend the Wildgoose Scotland suite of activities to develop teams in the future.”
