Creating a Coaching Culture
The debate about whether managers are leaders or managers (or both) is being overtaken by a new concept - that of coaching for success, but not always in a manager-to-report relationship. In most high performance environments, the ability to coach staff is seen as a critical competence - either as a manager coaching your team, or increasingly in peer-to-peer coaching situations. Delivering increased motivation and performance and removing barriers and blocks to progression, investment in coaching skills delivers substantial returns.
Ensuring that people are performing at their best is crucial to the overall performance and continued success of the business. For this to happen, people want to feel that they are contributing something, that their presence in the company has meaning. They want to feel valued and appreciated, to feel that they can develop and grow and that they will be supported to do so.
This Learning Lab aims to equip participants with the skills and approaches required to deliver results-led coaching and become an effective resource to colleagues and reports.
This Learning Lab will support your team by
- Pre-Lab work - providing coaching-specific participant materials - Lab Notes - to support accelerated learning on the day
- Exploration on the day of current methodology relating to coaching
- Content to include;
~ Using a coaching approach that highlights the importance of investing time and effort in building relationships and helps to remove obstacles to effective performance
~ Understanding the benefits of maintaining a focus on developing skills for long term results
~ Knowing how to ask questions that are powerful in achieving results - Engaging participants in an experiential simulation, replicating a coaching scenario, to raise awareness of how coaching techniques can be employed to improve performance
- Pinpointing specific areas of success & development
- Defining existing support mechanisms for coaching (resources, management, communication etc)
- A facilitated Thinking into Action & Personal Goal Map session
Post-Lab, we'd like to build on the momentum gained through the intervention and sustain the impact of the learning. Additional support may be required to ground the learning, review progress on action plans, identify and manage "road blocks" and "congestion"
