The Leading Edge
Building Leaders at every level
Effective leaders breathe life, confidence and 'can-do' into the organisation. They unlock discretionary effort. They move us. People work for a manager; they do their best for a leader.
Top managers have learned to communicate people's worth and potential with such clarity that they come to see it in themselves. Every day they provide compelling reasons why their most talented people should keep coming to work. It's not just about money. It's about building corporate communities in which people feel capable, confident and strong.
Few people would dispute the critical importance of leadership to business success - not only of leadership from the top, but of cultures of leadership in which many people throughout an organisation are willing to take the initiative in the interests of the enterprise. An act of leadership happens when someone sees an opportunity to act and has the courage to do so; it is not about position and it isn't necessary to possess any special traits or characteristics.
This Learning Lab aims to examine the characteristics of the leading edge Leader. It will provide participants with ‘discovery tools' and insights that will help them find out how to develop their own capacity for noticing when such action is possible or necessary, acting as a leader and looking and sounding like a leader.
This Learning Lab will support your team by:
- Pre-Lab work: Assessing thinking styles and leadership competence pre-event through brain dominance profiling. Providing relevant participant reading materials - Lab Notes - to support accelerated learning on the day.
- Exploring key aspects of leadership and current methodologies
- Leadership style; the impact your style has on other people and broadening the range of approaches you use in communication
- Getting people to buy into vision, goals and objectives rather than pay lip service to it
- Understanding more about influencing and inspiring others - motivating them to commit to action and finding new ways of dealing with challenging behaviour
- Engaging team members in an experiential simulation, replicating a complex organisational scenario, to raise awareness of the impact of (in)effective leadership on team and organisational success
- Pinpoint specific areas of success and development
- Define existing support mechanisms for leaders in the organisation (resources, coaching, mentoring etc)
- A facilitated Thinking into Action & Personal Goal Map session
Post-Lab, to build on the momentum gained through the intervention and sustain the impact of the learning we'd like to return to your work to provide coaching support to participants to review progress on Personal Goal maps and identify and manage "road blocks" and "congestion"
