Prohibition

With this special evening event your guests will be able to enjoy canapés and moonshine cocktails whilst rubbing shoulders with the Al Capone and his gangsters and molls.

Theming

Guests enter their Speakeasy venue via the roped red carpet with 1920's style paparazzi photographers positioned to "pap" guests on arrival.  Inside, your venue would be transformed into an elegant 1920's dining room to host your event.

Theming ideas include:

• Search lights outside the venue adds drama
• Ford Model A car cut out gives a photo opportunity
• Prohibition themed backdrop to enhance the theme
• Cinema show reel of black and white gangster films or the more modern Boardwalk Empire
• Giant cut outs or B&W images of famous faces of the Prohibition era: Al Capone, Bugsy Malone, Louis Armstrong, Charlie Chaplin & Greta Garbo
• Tables and chairs dressed using satin, silk and chiffon fabrics in black, white and silver, with flashes of corporate colours to customise the look
• Table stationary printed in black and white Broadway font and tables named after classic Hollywood films or famous faces of 1920's. Menus printed in the style of tabloid newspapers.
• Table centre pieces with candelabras dripping with pearls and tall displays of ostrich feathers reminiscent of the 1920's era. Black hats with white trim, tommy guns and cigars are another option.
• Diamond & feather headband style napkin rings
• A moonshine bar selling bootlegged beverages
• Police raid effect with sirens & flashing blue lights to grab guests attention at key moments of the event

Dress suggestions for guests:
Guests could don their best 1920's style attire with ladies in sequined flapper dresses, pearls and feathered headbands and gents in black and white suits with gangster hats and tommy guns.

Entertainment options include:

• Caricaturist drawing 1920's themed portraits

• Illegal casino with blackjack, poker, craps & roulette, complete with dodgy dealers, chips and laundered fun money

Catering suggestions include:

• Vintage 1920's china plates and serving platters will add authentic flair and uniqueness to the event
• 1920's themed menu including Al Capone's Antipasti, Speakeasy Spaghetti, Zoot Suit Smoked Salmon, Cotton Club Crab Cakes and Great Gatsby Gelato
• Vintage tea sets for after dinner tea & coffee
