Conference Connections

Not only do you have to design and construct a section of a physical bridge structure, but it must link with your neighbouring table teams, and it must be strong enough to support a model remote control tank, car or other vehicle during the finale element of the challenge.

This event can be condensed for a quick fire indoor conference energiser activity, or the full version can be used as a more involved indoor event, during which your Lead Facilitator host can draw out key individual and team learning outcomes. If required, we can also create a completely bespoke RC vehicle for your company which you can keep as a lasting memento of your successful event.

How it works

Teams are first asked to assign individual roles within their teams; the Project Manager (team leader) can be selected prior to the event, and they will be identified by wearing their very own construction hard hat. Other roles may include designers, materials acquisition, constructors and time keeping. The key to success is to ensure that teams not only construct a bridge within the given parameters, but that is strong enough to hold the weight of the remote control vehicle and most importantly, that it connects with another team’s bridge to create one collaborative, interlinked build.

Who it’s for

Conference Connections is ideal for large conference groups (e.g. in a cabaret-style room layout), and those who are looking for a creative indoor activity to get teams energised and collaborating towards a common goal.

The Benefits

Conference Connections is a collaborative and inclusive team based challenge, which helps teams to deploy effective communication skills and delegate tasks throughout the team in a way that plays to the strengths and interests of all team members. Team effectiveness is tested and developed through this activity, as teams begin to collaborate and work together to successfully build their bridge structure against the parameters imposed and brief provided. There is also the additional benefit of a Lead Facilitator on the day, whose role is to link the experience back to the workplace context.
