Travel Scot World organised a 4-day leadership conference in St Andrews in March for their client, a major petroleum company. They approached Maximillion to propose a fun team building activity which would encourage delegates to think about the company’s straplines and objectives, as well as get to know one another better. Following discussion, Maximillion created a bespoke filming event to deliver on the client’s requirements.

Event Detail

  • Duration: Half day
  • Venue:  Fairmont, St Andrews
  • Format: 20 teams of 10
  • Guests:  200, mostly male Senior Managers, Cluster Managers and Vice Presidents from Europe, the Middle East and Africa

Objectives

  • Encourage delegates to engage with the company’s straplines and objectives
  • Give participants the opportunity to express themselves in a fun, relaxed atmosphere
  • Create a positive environment for interaction between colleagues
  • Have FUN!

 

What we did

Delegates were organised into teams and were allocated a company strapline or objective, and tasked with creating a two-minute film which would highlight the topic using a particular film genre, such as spy or comedy. Teams were issued with the basic equipment required to make their film. In addition, participants could use fun money to buy additional materials and services such as:

  • Props
  • Costumes
  • Sound equipment
  • Studio space with backdrops
  • Time with a make-up artist

Films were judged and the “best bits” shown during the evening’s entertainment. Once the golden envelopes were opened, winners were announced and awarded their mini Oscar statues.

Those who took part were mostly Senior Managers, Cluster Managers and Vice Presidents from Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
