Comings and Goings

February 9, 2018 : News

This month we bid a fond farewell and extend a huge thanks to our Events Executive Jennifer Rae, who will be embarking on a new adventure working for Heriot-Watt University!

She began as an intern back in 2016 and joined the full-time team at the beginning of 2017. Since then, Jen has had a huge impact on Maximillion so it is no surprise that she will be missed by all, but we wish her the best in her new position. Before she leaves, we took the chance to ask her a few questions about her time at Maximillion:

Describe your last year in 1 sentence.

“An extremely enjoyable and valuable experience”

What do you think you will most the most, and miss the least?

“I’ll miss the events and all the office energisers, but I definitely won’t miss arguing over the radio station!”

What is your funniest memory from your time at Maximillion?

“Probably when Laura hid a stuffed rubber bat in my desk drawers and I ended up crying with shock . . . meanie!”

What have you enjoyed most about being Events Executive?

“I have really enjoyed being able to work on a variety of events, I love that each day is different, and I really enjoy getting to meet and work with lots of different people”

Do you have any advice for any newbies starting at Maximillion?

“Definitely come armed with a notepad, snacks and a good sense of humour!”

Do you have any general comments for the team?

“Thank you all for all your help, advice, time, patience, and bad jokes during my time at Maximillion. You’ve been a great team to work with and I’m sure this won’t be goodbye!”

We love to welcome new faces into our family, and to help them increase their skills and knowledge within the events industry, as well as providing them with plenty of opportunities to learn and grow.

We would like to introduce our new events intern – Amy Davies!

Amy has joined the Maximillion team for a 6-month internship as part of her studies of Festival and Events Management at Edinburgh Napier University. To get to know her a little bit better, we took the chance to ask her a few quick, quirky questions:

If you were to have a special power, what would it be?

“Ooh the ability to read minds!”

What’s the weirdest food you’ve ever eaten?

“It would probably have to be a cricket in Thailand…”

What’s your favourite snack?

“Definitely cheese and onion crisps and Dairy Milk chocolate together, it sounds weird but trust me, it’s great!” Rather you than me Amy…

Tell us about your party trick?

“I can put both feet behind my head!”

Would you rather live in Hogwarts or Narnia?

“Narnia, definitely.”

What’s your favourite animal?

“I love penguins!”

If you could be any person, fictional or non-fictional, who would you be and why?

“Gordon Ramsay. He’s got restaurants and his own TV shows, he gets to say what he wants…he’s just got it made!”

How did you try to get your own way as a child?

“I used to sit in a corner with my arms folded and refuse to speak until I got my own way…not that it ever worked.”

What’s the best present you’ve ever been given?

“I got a flying lesson for my 20th birthday, it was incredible!”
