Reinvigorate your conferences

January 30, 2012 : General Team Building

Need some inspiration to add a little va-va-voom to your conference or company meeting? Would you prefer for your delegates to go away buzzing rather than thinking they’ve just had more of the “same old same old”? Here are just a few tips on how to spice up your events and offer your staff a memorable experience which creates a talking point for weeks (even months!) afterwards.

A quirky or inspring venue can go a long way to capture the interest of your conference delegates. The award winning Heritage Motor Centre in Warwickshire offers large air-conditioned conference rooms with space for up to 600 delegates and a further 17 syndicate rooms. The museum itself houses the world’s finest collection of historic British cars, providing a unique breakout activity. If you prefer a historic setting, Highclere Castle, which also features as ITV’s Downton Abbey, provides spectacular surroundings for a conference and a guided tours of the castle and grounds can be arranged to enhance the day. You could take to to the water and hold a meeting on The Tall Ship in Glasgow or even reach for the sky in the London Eye!

If you’re bringing together staff from across the UK or overeas in a multi-day conference, a team building activity such as Taxi or  Espionage offers the opportunity to get to know one another better while also seeing more of the destination. If your agenda only allows time for a shorter energiser, then Top Trumps and Boomwhackers are sure to break the ice and put smiles on faces.

A motivational speaker can add enormous value to an event. Incredible, emotive personal experiences can be very effective in highlighting key conference or business messages such as teamwork, coping with change and goal setting. Such stories can provide a huge boost for staff and inspire them to be the very best they can be.

Gala dinner
Give your delegates the chance to dress up and get to know one another over dinner. This could also be the perfect opportunity to present any awards or make informal company updates or announcements. The evening could be themed (Hollywood and the Prohibition era are very popular at the moment!) and include entertainers or an interactive activity such as Amalgameation.
