The Team Has Grown

July 10, 2017 : News

We love to provide the opportunity for people to grow their skills and knowledge within the events industry. That is why we are delighted to welcome them into the Maximillion family.

As our busy summer period is well underway, we are delighted to welcome some new faces to our team.  Jemma Buchanan, Lauren Gilbert and Ross Gardiner.

To begin, we have Jemma:

Originally from the Highlands of Scotland, Jemma is now studying Languages with Festival and Event Management at Edinburgh Napier University. She is currently joining us for a 3-month internship before she moves to Madrid to Study Marketing on her year abroad.

Why did you want to be an intern with Maximillion?

“Because I am interested in the events industry and wanted to get some experience in this field.”

If given the chance, which fictional or non-fictional person would you like to be for a day and why?

“Probably Hermione Granger, she’s intelligent, loved and can do magic!”

Would you rather be able to fly or be invisible?

“Be invisible. I’m a little dodgy when it comes to heights. Would probably use the power to sneak on planes and fly the world anyway (within the safety of a metal box!)

Would you rather attend school in Hogwarts or live in Narnia?

“Hogwarts for sure! Bit of a super-fan. Who wouldn’t want to learn magic?!”

What is the weirdest food you have ever eaten?

“Snails. They were surprisingly alright (smothered in garlic butter!) Apparently, I used to eat napkins as a kid too though….”

Tell us about a time you got yourself in trouble.

“When I let out our pet hamster as a child and it was lost for hours. My parents feared the worst but it was all good, the hamster turned up eventually!”

Next up, we have Lauren:

After travelling for a year around Australia and New Zealand, she has decided to start a new career in Event Management. Before she heads off to start her degree in Event Management at Glasgow Caledonian University, she will be joining us for a 3-month internship.

Why did you want to be an intern with Maximillion?

“I wanted to gain experience in the events industry and to get a head start before University in September.”

If given the chance, which fictional or non-fictional person would you like to be for a day and why?

“Spiderman – so I can save the day!”

Whats been your most enjoyable experience?

“Swimming with wild dolphins and diving in the Great Barrier Reef.”

Would you rather be able to fly or be invisible?

“I would rather be invisible and leave the flying side of things to planes…”

Would you rather attend school in Hogwarts or live in Narnia?

“Live in Narnia so I can be with my siblings.”

Tell us about a time you got yourself in trouble.

“I swapped classes with my twin sister in High School and got her into trouble!”

And last but by no means least, we have Ross:

Ross finished off his degree in Liverpool and spent the following 4 years working in the events industry in the Lake District and across the UK. He’s now decided to head back north and base himself in Edinburgh, and is looking forward to progressing his career with Maximillion.

What is your role at Maximillion?

“Project Manager”

Given the chance, which fictional or non-fictional person would you like to be for the day and why?

“I’d have to choose Peter Kay. Imagine being able to make yourself laugh that much all day.”

What is the weirdest food you have eaten?

“That’s a tough one! Zebra Tarantula? Black Scorpion? Scotch Pie?”

Would you rather be invisible or be able to fly?

“Surely everyone wants to be able to fly!?”

Tell us about a time you got yourself in trouble.

“I was lucky enough to be invited to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace during my teenage years. It turns out that it’s not the best place to explore with your mates…”

What has been your most enjoyable experience?

“Summer 2014. Cycling from Liverpool to Barcelona with a friend. What an adventure! What an experience!”

Would you rather attend school in Hogwarts or live in Narnia?

“I’m currently on a Harry Potter marathon so it has to be Hogwarts.”
