Below is a list of my top 10 sporting venues in the UK that are perfect for conferences and team building events. These venues offer a unique option for any client looking for an inspiring location to host their event.

1. Arsenal Emirates Stadium, London

Aside from world class football, this venue offers bright, modern and versatile suites which can accommodate up to 500 guests for a conference and 1000 for a reception. The interconnecting rooms, overlooking the pitch, make a flexible space for breakout sessions or team building activities. This venue is perfect for large conferences requiring numerous breakout rooms or indoor team building activities such as Strictly Dance or Maelstrom.

2. Old Course Hotel, St Andrews

This is one of my favourites. Not only is this hotel centred on the most famous hole in golf, the venue itself is absolutely stunning! This hotel offers state of the art conferencing facilities for groups of 16 – 600 as well as a luxury spa and golf packages that are perfect for a spouse programme or incentives.

In addition, the staff are so friendly and accommodating; nothing ever seems too much to ask – absolutely 5 stars for service.

3. EICA Ratho, near Edinburgh

This truly awe-inspiring centre, built against the backdrop of a sheer quarry rock face, recently hosted the World Youth Climbing Championships and is fantastic for indoor team building such as Kinetic Connections and Eden. The meeting spaces are extremely flexible, ideal for conferences of all shapes and sizes.

4. Devere Whites Hotel – Bolton Stadium

Based at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium, the Devere Whites hotel is in a prime location, just off the M6. The staff here are fantastic, and with the east and west wings of the conference facilities at each end of the stadium your group feels they have the whole venue to themselves!

With 8 breakout rooms, 43 executive boxes and the Platinum Suite, which can accommodate 300 guests overlooking the pitch, this is an ideal venue for a conference or indoor team building. We recently held a 2 dayconference for 300 guests invited through our delegate management system. Not only was the venue the perfect option for the group size, guests were also treated to a tour of the football grounds during the lunch break….the perfect energiser!!

5. Gleneagles Equestrian Centre, Perthshire

Gleneagles is one of the most beautiful venues in Scotland. The main hotel is perfect for incentives, spouse programmes and outdoor team building, and now with the newly refurbished Equestrian Centre it can also accommodate large conferences and a wet weather solution for Highland Fling, Country Pursuits and It’s a Knockout events.

This unique venue is used for carriage driving and polo lessons on a daily basis for private and corporate groups, however with help from the creative and audio visual team the space can also be transformed into a bespoke space for a conference, exhibition or product launch.

6. York Racecourse

Set in 150 acres of scenic parkland you won’t find a more ideal location for your conference or evening event than at York Racecourse. We have held a Family Fun Day here for over 300 guests which was perfect due to the ample parking space and grounds available for activities such as dodgems! For groups celebrating their works night out this is also a perfect venue to hold a Race Night or Casino Evening to entertain your guests after dinner.

7. The Brit Oval, London

An established venue with a great history to it. The Brit Insurance Oval takes its rightful place amongst London’s premier sporting venues, offering a range of excellent conference facilities. Located right in the centre of London, just a short walk from the tube station, this venue provides bright, modern, versatile conference facilities with an extremely high standard of service. We have previously managed a conference for 250 delegates here that required 6 breakout rooms all with natural daylight. To top the day off, guests were invited for a tour of the grounds by some ex-England cricket players!

8. Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh

Situated in the heart of Scotland’s historic capital city, Murrayfield is the iconic home of Scottish Rugby that also boasts facilities which offer a large a versatile space for conferences and team building events. Following its recent refurbishment, the venue now holds the city’s largest banqueting capacity which accompanied by the vast outdoor space and exhibition area make it an ideal venue for a number of event styles. The outdoor space is perfect for a Back to School event or Checkpoint Challenge.

9. Perth Racecourse

Perth Racecourse shares its parkland with Scone Palace, the original site for the crowning of the Kings of Scotland and the Stone of Destiny. It offers the perfect location for a leisurely day at the races or corporate event in historical and beautiful surroundings.

The conference facilities can accommodate groups of 16 – 300 guests with 19 breakout rooms that make it perfect for those events which require a large number of facilitated workshop sessions. With these additional breakout rooms, it makes it a perfect venue for aCommercial Break or Create & Paint activity. This venue is also great for evening entertainment options such as Bandeoke or a generation game which can follow an evening meal.

10. Eton College Rowing Centre, Dorney Lake

This unique venue is perfect for those smaller team away days looking for a morning meeting followed by an outdoor team building option such as Team Works Out.

Its conference facilities can accommodate up to 200 guests with two additional breakout rooms, but its real USP are the water facilities which can be used for various outdoor activities such as Splash Down, water sphering, raft building and dragon boat racing. If you want a unique team day out, Dorney Lake if definitely a venue not to be ignored!
