Top 10 UK conference venues

August 25, 2009 : General Team Building

Since crossing the border and joining Maximillion in 2008, I have focused the majority of my attention on our conference & incentive events. So, not only do I get to design creative, bespoke conferences, but I also have the opportunity to work at some fantastic venues with superb facilities and exceptional service.

The ones which I would most recommend (in no order) include:

1. City Inn, Westminster
Very contemporary hotel in the middle of London offering fantastic service and conference areas for up to 200 delegates. The exclusive Sky Lounge has panoramic views of the dazzling London cityscape.

2. Weetwood Hall, Leeds
Set within 9 acres of parkland estate, Weetwood Hall is the largest and most flexible four-star conference centre and hotel in the North of England. Weetwood Hall combines the original features of the 17th Century Manor House with state of-the-art technology in the purpose-built 37-room conference centre. The indoor space and extensive grounds are ideal for team building activities to enhance your conference.

3. Hinckley Island Hotel, Leicestershire
Maximillion organised a 3-day conference for 250 delegates here last year which required seven breakout rooms and a main conference and dining area. This is a fantastic hotel with good transport links to M69, M6 & M1 and local train station in Hinckley.

4. Savill Court, Windsor
This venue can host up to 800 guests for conferences, and is minutes from Windsor Castle. We recently held a Family Fun Day and It’s A Knockout event here which worked perfectly on the surrounding 22 acres of beautiful grounds which are fantastic for activities. Delegates can also take time out and unwind at the Savill Spa.

5. The Vineyard at Stockcross, Newbury
This luxury, privately owned country house is a perfect venue for smaller events that are looking for that personal touch. Not only does it have 2 Michelin stars, it also has its own wine cellar with over 23,000 unique wines. The Vineyard is a real treat for discerning delegates looking for sumptious accommodation, gourmet food and a boutique spa.

6. Vinopolis, London
With a choice of seven distinct yet equally stunning event spaces, this is one of London’s top event venues. This characterful venue was used for ‘The Apprentice’ season finale as it offers two identical rooms, and it’s a great choice for larger conferences for up to 1,250 delegates.

7. The Brit Oval, London
With the hype surrounding England’s Ashes triumph at the moment, I thought I should mention this unique venue. The service here is impeccable and with the views of the ground from every conference room and its central location, it is a must when considering a London venue.

8. Warren House, Kingston Upon Thames
This charming hotel caters for all requirements with discreet but attentive service. We delivered a facilitated team offsite for NICE in 2006 as well as a fun corporate away day in 2007.

9. The Hub, Edinburgh
Another topical venue, as The Hub is also the centre of the Edinburgh International Festival. Located on the Royal Mile, just below iconic Edinburgh Castle, this venue is perfect for conferences or incentives looking for a creative, colourful meeting space before a tour around the castle or treasure hunt activity. One of the events Maximillion has run at The Hub was a very successful conference for SCYYP.

10. The Crutherland Hotel, Glasgow
Just south of Glasgow City Centre and set in 25 acres of woodland, this venue is great for conferences of all sizes as well as activities such as Country Pursuits & Checkpoint Challenge. In 2007 we held a 4-day conference and incentive for Hutchison 3G which included Scottish evening entertainment.
