Top Overseas & UK venues for L&D programmes

February 21, 2013 : General Team Building

Maximillion delivers facilitated L&D events throughout the UK and overseas, from small group team development interventions through to multi-day residential programmes, many of which may include both indoor and outdoor elements.

As a result, we are always happy to advise clients on the venues that would work for the purposes of their event, or to build our programmes around the venues that the client may already have selected themselves. Here’s a small selection of venues at which we have very recent experience of delivering facilitated events for our clients, and which we would highly recommend for your next L&D event:

Top overseas venue for residential programmes:

Cove Rotana Resort, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE

  • The Rotana is located just a few minutes’ drive from Ras Al Khaimah Airport and 45 minutes from Dubai on the newly built Emirates Road. At this five star hotel traditional charm embraces the uniqueness of the Arabian culture. located on an idyllic water inlet on the Ras Al Khaimah beachfront overlooking the Arabian Gulf with 600 m of pristine beach. Earlier this month Lead Facilitator Vicky Russell had the pleasure of delivering a BELBIN Team Roles development programme for the MENA team of a medical products business. The venue prides itself on its high level of service – according to Vicky, nothing was too much to ask for. A top notch service, coupled with state-of-the-art facilities for any conference and seminar requirements, and a good climate at this time of the year (not too hot!), made for a successful programme. The Cove Rotana Resort provides an excellent environment to encourage staff and teams to focus on your L&D objectives.

Top UK venue for residential programmes:

Wokefield Park, Reading

  • De Vere Venues Wokefield Park blends the traditional with the modern to offer a choice of accommodation and superb leisure and golfing facilities. As you would imagine with 250 acres of landscaped grounds, outdoor team activities are well catered for at Wokefield. This was the reason that Maximillion recommended the Mansion House at Wokefield as the ideal venue for a January 2013 residential development programme that Lead Facilitator Mike Tierney designed for the global high potential group of a financial sector investment technology business. The programme incorporated specially customised versions of our Facing New Challenges, Checkpoint Challenge and Apprentice – You’re Hired activities. In our experience, its standard of meeting facilities and opportunities for outdoor team development is unrivalled in this part of the country. The 6 inches of snow that fell on the second day of the programme did not detract from the success of the outdoor activity elements!

Top hotel venue for small group retreats:

Norton House Hotel, Edinburgh

  • Built in 1840, Norton House Hotel & Spa in Edinburgh, Scotland was always intended as a traditional country retreat, removed from the bustle of the city. This luxury four star hotel in Scotland is just a 20-minute drive from Edinburgh city centre and a mere ten minutes away from Edinburgh Airport. In December 2012 Maximillion were commissioned to provide a facilitated team development programme, comprising inter-related activities from our TeamWorks for Business programme, for the senior team of a household name in the soft drinks industry, as part of a wider leadership development programme they were undertaking. An initial site visit with the client’s Consultant determined where the team activities would take place, and the flexibility of the service provided by the staff on the day of the event was second to none

Top unique venue to suit a host of group sizes and development programme requirements:

Kirknewton Stables, West Lothian

  • Managed by Maximillion, Kirknewton Stables is our most diverse and flexible venue and is used for conferences, team building and facilitated team development events. With an incredible 18th century open plan hall opening out onto a stunning walled garden, Kirknewton Stables exudes charm and character. Set in 600 acres of beautiful policies and parkland it is ideal for a range of activities. This includes a specially designed Challenge Zone for TeamWorks Out, acres of grassland and woodland ideal for Checkpoint Challenge style events, and offroad 4×4 driving track, quad bike trails, a dedicated clay shooting ground and archery area at ourMadMax Adventures centre located on the other side of Kirknewton Estate.

We hope that you will consider Maximillion for your organisation’s learning and development requirements in Edinburgh, Scotland, across the UK and overseas over 2013, and very much look forward to hearing from you.
